The National Guard Jr. Special Forces Program is a joint venture between the National Guard Drug Demand Reduction Program and McDowell County FACES. Beginning in 2001, the Program took on 12 male youth from the Big Creek School District.
The Goals of the Program:
- Provide youth with positive role models
- Educate youth on the hazards of alcohol, tobacco,
and other drugs- Assist youth in making good life decisions
- Build youth leadership and character
- Promote the importance of physical fitness and
proper nutrition- Build skills in youth
- Promote environmental awareness
- Encourage youth responsibility
- MOST IMPORTANT: HAVE FUN!!!!
Today, the Jr. Special Forces Program is in the process of being modified for use in SADD Chapter development for McDowell County Schools.
